12 Sustainable Women’s Polos from Ash City

24 Aug

Ash City has 12 sustainable polos just for the ladies in their 2011 line. I repeat, 12.

That is huge.

When did this happen? I know when I talked to Chris Clark, VP of Sales for Ash City USA, back in 2009 he told us more sustainable blends and shirt styles were coming from Ash City. But when the heck did they get to 12 ladies cuts just for polos alone?

It may not seem like such a big deal to the reader, but understand most other producers offer maybe three or four sustainable appareal items. Even Anvil, the big player when it comes to tee shirts, only has organic cotton, recycled cotton, and 50% recycled PET, 50% organic cotton conversion materials in their line.

When you are working on a client’s program, choice is huge. Choice is everything, because if the clothing does not work for the client’s brand and identity, does it really mater if it is sustainable?

With more cuts, more blends, more colors, Ash City is bringing choice to sustainable material promotional clothing. And that is a big deal. Here are links to the 12 polos and a video of Chris from 2009.

Ash City Partners With American Breast Cancer Foundation

7 Dec

Ash City USA – one of the leaders in eco-friendly apparel for the promotional items market – is partnering with the American Breast Cancer Foundation through their new “We’re Thinking Pink” campaign.

From the Ash City website, “Ash City USA is proud to announce it has become a supporter in the fight against breast cancer. With the recent launch of our “We’re Thinking Pink” campaign, we are joining in the fight to help fund research for the American Breast Cancer Foundation to help find a cure.

Money raised helps provide individuals, their families and their loved ones in financial need with direct financial assistance, education, support, and access to early detection screenings. ABCF supports research for innovative diagnostic, treatment and patient support methods through leading medical institutions.”

The deal is if you purchase any apparel or accessory item from Ash City and have your order decorated with the ABCF pink ribbon, Ash City will make a donation to the ABCF. Or, and this is even better, pick any pink product identified with the pink ribbon symbol in the Ash City catalog (no embroidery required) and Ash City will again make a donation to the ABCF. Here is a link to the press release.

Currently Ash City carries over 27 different styles in ABCF Pink, including eco-friendly items like the LADIES’ RECYCLED POLYESTER FLEECE FULL-ZIP JACKET (75% recycled polyester/25% polyester 4.9oz./yd2/165gsm anti-pill fleece. Overlay trim: 100% recycled polyester EQP $47.90), and LADIES’ ORGANIC COTTON/SPANDEX JERSEY LONG SLEEVE CREW (94% organic cotton/6% spandex jersey, 5.2 oz./yd2/175 gsm EQP $33.90).

Ash City Expands With Eco Bags & Caps

21 Jul

This is a guest post by John Simonetta, owner of Proforma Simonetta Freelance, an eco-friendly promotional items consultancy (see proformagreen.com). John’s blogs are designed to keep us up to date on the “greening” of his industry.

Ash City, one of the leaders in eco-friendly promotional apparel, is branching out into caps and bags made from recycled materials.

Talking to Chris Clark, Vice President of Sales with Ash City USA, about their expansion he again echoed what I have seen before, now that there is a growing demand for these products, manufacturers like Ash City are trying to bring as many quality items made from sustainable resources to market as soon as possible.

For the Ecopreneurist this means that you can expect more options, better quality, and greater selection for your marketing and promotional needs.

For example the 12 1/4″H x 16 1/4″W x 3″D Recycled Polyester Computer Brief Chris mentions at the end of this video is 65% recycled polyester/35% polyester 600 denier canvas, with a stylish color-block front pocket plus audio port, and reinforced sides, bottom and front/back walls to provide some basic support and protection for the laptops it carries.

At EQP $32.50 with 7000 stitches of embroidery I think it is a great example of the new breed of stylish apparel and computer totes that just happen to be eco-friendly.
