Recycled May Showers

3 Mar

42″ Recycled PET Auto Open Plaid Folding Umbrella

Umbrellas. Go do a quick google search for “umbrellas crowd”. What you get is a lot, a really lot, of unused marketing space. Hotels, restaurants, yes, but think technology, food services, website marketing, autos. Umbrellas are walking billboards. And since may umbrellas can be printed full color, inside and out, using all the canopy for your marketing, I think umbrellas are a very underrated and under used portable billboard for you business.

The 42″ Recycled PET Auto Open Plaid Folding Umbrella is a basic sort of umbrella, with a bit of pop. It is part of the EcoSmart line from PCNA because the canopy on this umbrella is 100% recycled PET.

“42” Automatic Opening umbrella that features a bold plaid pattern and a 4″ solid hem that is perfect for decorating. Made from 100% recycled PET material and features a natural wooden handle. Available for one-day turn with Sureship®. Through a partnership with 1% For The Planet, one percent of sales of this and all EcoSmart products will be donated to nonprofits dedicated to protecting the planet.”

As you would expect on an umbrella, the 42″ Recycled PET Auto Open Plaid Folding Umbrella has a large imprint area of 2.00″ H x 8.00″ W, and can be decorated on up to three panels. And colors, Burgundy, Gray/white, Blue, as well as Black. The 42″ Recycled PET Auto Open Plaid Folding Umbrella also features a wooden handle, which is a nice touch.

So start thinking umbrellas. Indeed, next time it rains, look around. See how the landscape changes into an opportunity to spread you marketing message all over the city.

PCNA is doing recycled clothing

15 Jan

RINCON Packable Jacket

So this is kind of a big deal. PCNA, one of the leading manufacturers in the promotional products industry, is now offering recycled clothing options inside their TRIMARK line.

First, let’s remind everyone why TRIMARK is already a category killer for promotional apparel. 1) One stop pricing that includes decoration, 2) Multiple decoration options including deboss, embroidery, and laser engrave 3) Male and female companions for most items, 4) Free virtuals program.

So PCNA is adding to that lineup recycled clothing options.

Let take a look at the RINCON Packable Jacket. The jacket is available in five colors; white, vintage red, metro blue, loden, black/silver. The male jackets run S – 5XL, ladies jackets run XS – 3XL. Production is 5-7 days from art approval.

On materials, the outer shell is 60% Polyester and 40% Recycled polyester 240T woven with water resistant coating (600mm) & water repellent finish, 80 g/m² (2.4 oz/yd²).

Here is the pitch from the website.

“Good for your style, even better for the planet. The Rincon is made with recycled polyester and even has recycled zipper tape. It’s also wind- and water-resistant with a roll-away hood to keep you drier longer and it’s got a mesh lining and breathable back vents to keep you cool and comfy. Color pop details for extra style points. It even packs away into a built-in stuff sack for easy stowing.”

Again, I want to stress that TRIMARK is a excellent, award setting brand in promotional apparel. I expect nothing less in comfort, quality, and style in their new line of EcoSmart Apparel. I also expect that PCNA will continue to add to this line in the coming months.

Speaker made from Wheat Straw – Why not?

14 Jan

Great full color speak top imprint.

Strong gift box vibe.

Easily portable.

The new Frenzy Wheat Straw Bluetooth Speaker from PCNA is another example of promotional items made from wheat straw mixed with polypropylene. This new material is being used for more and more items in the promotional products market, however these is the first speaker I have seen.

Description from the vendor;

The Frenzy Wheat Straw Bluetooth Speaker got your attention. The Frenzy Bluetooth Speaker case is made from 51% wheat straw, giving it a natural on trend look! The speaker produces crystal clear sound at over 1.5hrs at max volume. The instruction manual and giftbox of the Frenzy Bluetooth Speaker is made from FSC Certified recycled paper. Bluetooth Version 5.0. Through a partnership with 1% For The Planet, one percent of sales of this and all EcoSmart products will be donated to nonprofits dedicated to protecting the planet

I love the full color imprinting possible on these speakers. I am also a fan of the included packaging. And once again, this is another product that is part of the 1% For The Planet partnership.

The speakers are beige only (but again they have full color decoration on top) which is a neutral color that works with most company logos. Their size is 1.96″ H X 2.2″ W X 2.2″ D.

How does the Frenzy Wheat Straw Bluetooth Speakesound. Really good actually. Go ahead and request a sample, and let us give you a chance to hear the sound for yourself.

Big Grocery Vintage Matte Laminated Non-Woven Tote

25 Feb

Preprint back

Preprint back. Your logo is printed on blank panel area.

The Big Grocery Vintage Matte Laminated Non-Woven Tote has, well not the most buzz-worthy name. However, what it does have is a big pop of color for a preprinted grocery tote.

From the manufacturer, “Veggies and antique kitchen utensils take center stage in this vintage print. Perfect alternative to plastic bags. Large open main compartment. Supportive bottom board. Contrasting regular polypropylene front open pocket. Matte finish. Laminated material is water-resistant and easily wipes clean. Reinforced handles and binding for added durability.”

This is a great bag for farmer’s markets, community gardens, cooking programs. The bag comes with all that beautiful color in the preprint design, on a natural color back drop. We simply add your logo onto the front pocket area.

The Big Grocery Vintage Matte Laminated Non-Woven Tote is a big 15″ H X 10″ W X 13″ D, and made from 110g Laminated Non-Woven Polypropylene, a recyclable material. If you are running a program in a city with a bag ban, these bags are great giveaways. They can be cleaned with soap and water, and reused over and over again, constantly showing off your brand.

If you are interested in the Big Grocery Vintage Matte Laminated Non-Woven Tote to promote your business, or to get a sample, email info@proformagreen.com for information and pricing.

Appeel Medio Notebook

20 Mar

Colors: Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Renetta, Applewood, Pink Lady. 5 3/4 x 8 1/5 x 0 3/4 inches

The complete Appeel line from Castelli is unique in that these Made in Italy (but decorated in USA, so normal 5-7 turn around on orders) journals and padfolios are made from recycled apple waste. Yes, apples.

Take for example the Appeel Medio Notebook, “The Appeel Medio journal is made from apple peels that are ground and emulsified into an organic paper. This ground breaking eco friendly product is animal friendly, sustainable and all natural. Size: 5 1/4 x 8 3/8. 192 apple paper pages with green lines. Gray end pages with colored stripes. Back paper pocket.”

First the silly questions. The Appeel Medio Notebook does not smell like apples. The Appeel Medio Notebook does not taste like apples. But, each Appeel Medio Notebook is printed with information explaining that the Appeel Medio Notebook is made from apple waste, and so that this story can be easily incorporated into your our sustainability marketing message.

Of course we love this idea for anyone working on campaigns for sales, production, or distribution channels in the grocery or fruit industry. If your company is doing something with apples specifically, all the better.

And teachers gifts, as a nice Appeel Medio Notebook is likely more practical then an actual apple.

If you are interested in the Appeel Padfolio to promote your own business, or to get a sample, email info@proformagreen.com for information and pricing.

Men’s Sueded Jersey Long Sleeve

9 Feb
60% certified organic cotton, 40% recycled polyester.

60% certified organic cotton, 40% recycled polyester.

There is a new long sleeve tee from Econscious on the market. And it is really, really nice.

The EC1588 econscious Men’s Sueded Jersey Long Sleeve is available in 3 color options and sizes, S- XXL. The material for the EC1588 econscious Men’s Sueded Jersey Long Sleeve is a 4.25oz 60% organic cotton ring-spun jersey material, with a 40% blend of recycled polyester.

These are the same quality shirts that Econsciuos is selling in their retail line, and part of the 1% For The Planet initiative at Econsciuos, see https://www.econscious.net/pages/sustainability. The shirts have a great drape, and a retail look to them.

However, as covered in the FAQ page at the Econsciuos website, these shirts are not manufactured in the USA, and in their defense, it is really hard to locate affordable, recycled content tees, that are made in the USA.

Other than their materials, the EC1588 econscious Men’s Sueded Jersey Long Sleeve is your basic long-sleeve tee (ok, they are a lot nicer than an average tee shirt), and by that I mean we can imprint the tees locally, with any art or logo necessary for your brand or business.

I think the extra cost of a sustainable tee is only really worthwhile, if the fact that the tee is made from sustainability sourced materials directly ties to the brand message your business or organization is seeking to promote. If you are teaching or preaching sustainability via your brand, it is good to look the part.

If you are interested in the EC1588 econscious Men’s Sueded Jersey Long Sleeve to promote own business, or to get a sample, email info@proformagreen.com for information and pricing.

And as always, if you really want to do something sustainable, do not buy promotional products. All products are consumption at one level or another. So if you must buy, 1) Buy local (i.e. made in USA), 2) Buy useful, long lasting items, 3) Buy sustainable if possible.

The United States Playing Card Company

4 Feb

Do you play cards?

Have you ever really looked at a deck? For the marketing world, I like to think about a deck of cards as 52 little billboards taking your message into the world.

And who has ever tossed away a set of cards? I was in a rental cabin in Northern Virginia once, that deck was missing an Ace, two 4s, and the Queen of Diamonds, and it was still there, being used as best we could.
greenPlaying cards simply make a great long-term marketing investment.

So with all the options out there, why choose to go with The United States Playing Card Company (aside from the totally boss name). Let’s take a look at the list.

Their cards have been made in the USA since 1885. Their cards are made from sustainable forest papers. They use a starch based-laminate, that is gentler on water use and the environment. They use vegetable-based inks, also better for the environment.

knobcreekAnd of course there is the fact that you likely have been already playing with these cards your entire life, seeing how The United States Playing Card Company is the maker of such universally recognized brands as BEE®, BICYCLE®, KEM®, AVIATOR® and HOYLE®.

Here is the pitch for playing cards direct from their website,”playing cards offer 56 instant and creative impressions for your message. Each card can deliver a different communication point, visual or fact that is representative of your overall brand and objective.”

With the option of an individual custom impression on the front and back of each card, playing cards make great tools for training (got to learn beginning Japanese, put a phase on each card),  product education (Toyota, each suit can be a car class; Trucks, Luxury, SUVs, and Sedans, with each card a different car model), tourism (come see North Carolina, here are 52 suggested locations), really, if you get creative, the marketing uses are nearly endless.

So let’s get creative 🙂

Why Cork?

25 Mar

Spring is starting here in Texas. As is planning for a number of Texas wine events. So I thought this was a good time to post this information on cork and the cork coasters from Americanna.

whycorkback

1) Sustainably Harvested Cork

Careful forest management not only provides for the continued extraction of the cork oak but helps to create the conditions for a diverse range of other products that are harvested from the woodlands. A harmonious balance is maintained, where local people can provide for their needs without damaging the ecosystem or threatening the long-term sustainability of their most important natural resource. The cork oak is a slow growing tree that may live for 200 years, which allows it, on average, to be stripped 16 times during its lifetime. The first stripping only takes place after 25 years, when the trunk of the tree has a circumference of 70 cm.

2) Biodiversity Hotspot

Cork oak trees help to conserve soil by providing protection against wind erosion and increasing the rate at which rainwater infiltrates and recharges groundwater. Cork oak landscapes cover approximately 2.7 million hectares of Portugal, Spain, Algeria, Morocco, Italy, Tunisia and France. As well as providing a vital source of income for more than 100,000 people, these landscapes also support one of the highest levels of biodiversity among forest habitats, including globally endangered species such as the Iberian Lynx, the Iberian Imperial Eagle and the Barbary Deer. The Mediterranean is one of the 25 global ‘hot spots’ characterized by a high level of species diversity. It has 13,000 endemic plant species, the second highest number in the world after the tropical Andes. In cork oak landscapes, plant diversity can reach a level of 135 species per square metre, and may of these species have aromatic, culinary or medicinal uses.

3) Naturally Sequesters Carbon

In comparison to the aluminium and plastic closures, the cork stopper is the best alternative in terms of non-renewable energy consumption, emission of greenhouse effect gases, contribution to atmospheric acidification, contribution to the formation of photochemical oxidants, contribution to the eutrophication of surface water and total production of solid waste. The capture of carbon by the cork oaks during the photosynthesis process results in plant growth and transforms atmospheric CO2 into O2 and, in the case of organic matter, into cellulose. For this reason the forest is considered to be an important carbon sink.

4) Biodegradable and Recyclable

Cork is a truly sustainable product – it is renewable and biodegradable. Cork harvesting is an environmentally friendly process during which not a single tree is cut down. The bark renews itself ready for the next harvesting. Unlike its synthetic counterparts, cork is an inherently sustainable resource, both renewable and biodegradable. The cork oak tree (Quercus suber) is unique in that its thick bark can be stripped off every decade to extract the cork without damaging the trees, which can live 170 to 250 years on average.

5) Preserves Local Livelihoods

Without the demand for cork, economic pressures could force farmers to abandon the active management of cork forests, which may lead to rural exodus as well as unbalance the ecosystems that preserve the biodiversity of these regions. The increase in the market share of alternative wine stoppers, specifically plastic stoppers and screw-tops, could reduce the economic value of cork lands, therefore leading to conversion to other uses, abandonment, degradation, and finally loss of one of the best and most valuable examples of a human-nature balanced system. Because the forests have an economic value to local communities, people care for the forests. Cork oak woodlands provide employment and guarantee the survival of local communities. More than 100,000 people in the seven Mediterranean cork-producing countries depend directly and indirectly on cork economies. Cork is a vital source of regional rural employment. Over 15 billion cork stoppers are produced every year and sold worldwide to the wine industry. These stoppers are processed from bark harvested from cork oak woodlands that have existed in the Western Mediterranean for thousands of years. Cork for bottle stoppers accounts for almost 70% of the total value of the cork market. The wine industry thus plays a vital role in maintaining the economic value of cork and the cork oak forests.
