Recycled Paper Pen is Smart and Colorful

PE4771 Recycled Paper Pen

The new stick style recycled paper pen from Debco Solutions takes a simple concept, adds a lot of color and a fun design, and creates a really smart eco writer.

The barrel of the PE4771 Recycled Paper Pen from Debco is made from 100% recycled colored paper,  i.e. Debco is not dying these pens, they are getting their pen color from the actual color of the paper being recycled. Those colors offered are light blue, lime green, orange, pink, yellow, and natural (with the natural pen being made from recycled Kraft paper).

The PE4771 Recycled Paper Pen offers a 2″ x 0.2″ imprint area and all pens come standard with blue ink.

Two small design features also help the pen stand out. The cap of the PE4771 Recycled Paper Pen features a pinched design – indeed the pink pen cap reminds one of the closure on a sweet-n-low packet – and the tip of the pen features a wrap-to-point look.

With its colors and design elements PE4771 Recycled Paper Pen really seems to be more a fashionable little writer that just happens to be a little more “green” than your average stick pen.

When compared to other eco stick pens – like the Encore pen from Shepenco – you can see my point. The Encore pen is more an eco-friendly replacement for the common stick pen, and they do that job great.

The PE4771 Recycled Paper Pen is really designed to make a statement on its own, using recycled materials, colors, and great design to go beyond being just an “eco” pen. Designers, your stick pen has arrived.

Debco Leads the Way in Drinkware

DA8029 8 OZ. MINI MUG EQP $6.00

In a hint of what we might be seeing more of in the 4th quarter of 2010, or more likely 1st quarter of 2011, Debco Solutions has updated their website with three new designs of  the very popular double-walled porcelain mug made to look like a paper cup.

This design swept through the industry when first introduced in 2009, and these new styles might have the same impact in 2011.

The DA8029 8 OZ. MINI MUG (5” H x 3.5” Diameter) is a smaller version of the original, starting out of the gate in four colors, white, black, royal blue, and lime green. To that Debco encourages you to mix and match silicone lids; on offer are black, brown, lime green, red, royal blue, and white. The imprint area on the 8 oz mini is 2.25” W x 1.5” H (side), and registration will not allow for touching colors in the imprint. Currently EQP on the mini is $6, but their availability is yet to be announced.

The thing I really like about the mini is it seems a perfect size substitute for hotel bathroom plastic water and coffee cups. Yes the expense is greater, but for those hotels using conservation efforts as part of their branding I think the idea of a reusable cup works great. Print it with a message about the hotel’s eco-friendly policies, hotel’s logo, website, etc., and you have a great little promotional piece.

The standard 11oz mug (6” H x 3.5” Diameter) has been renamed the DA4297 11 OZ. MEDI MUG and is now also available with a vinyl sleeve. Color options on mugs and silicone lids are the same as the mini, with color sleeves available in the same color choices as silicone lids. Note that because the lids are silicone and the sleeves are vinyl Debco warns on their website that “colors of lid and sleeve are not an exact match”.

DA7296 11 OZ. MEDI MUG, $7.25 w/sleeve

Imprint size on the DA7296 11 OZ. MEDI MUG has increased to 6.5” W x 3” H. Holiday pricing is $6.75 per unit with a minimum run of 50 units. The DA7296 11 OZ. MEDIs are in stock and ready to ship for the holidays. (Indeed Debco sold out of them last year around November, they are that popular as holiday gifts.)

Last in the line up is the DA8713 16 OZ. MIGHTY MUG, which mimics all mug, lid, and sleeve options of the DA7296 11 OZ. MEDI MUG. The imprint area is even the same at 6.5” W x 3” H. The 16 OZ. MIGHTY MUG is a full inch taller than the MEDI MUG, standing 7” high with a 3.5” diameter.

Debco is expecting stock in mid October – so any day now – and is accepting orders on the MIGHTY MUG. Pricing for the holidays is $7.75 with one color imprint. Minimum run is only 50 units.

I suspect continuing variations on what is commonly referred to as the “not a paper cup” design will start showing up from other manufacturers as well, but for now Debco seems to have a jump on the competition.

All Debco mugs have a matte finish, not the glossy finish found on most of these style units from other manufacturers, like Numo and Glass America. All Debco styles are dishwasher safe and microwavable (mug only) which is standard to the industry.

Debco’s Bold PET Tote Bag

Nothing seems to work better for eco-friendly marketing than a big eco message. Debco takes that idea and runs with it, boldly proclaiming I USED TO BE A PLASTIC WATER BOTTLE on the front and GET INTO THE GREEN SCENE on the gusset of the RE6944 Pre-Printed Jumbo Grocery Tote.

Why is this a green bag? The RE6944 Pre-Printed Jumbo Grocery Tote is made from Polyethylene Terephalate, commonly referred to as PET. The PET used by Debco is 85% post-consumer recyclable plastic, mainly sourced from recycled plastic bottles. Debco use SGS certification and all totes come with a hangtag listing their environmental message for the end-user. The RE6944 Pre-Printed Jumbo Grocery Tote has an EQP of $3.25.

Kraft Paper Lunch Bag Setting New Standard

Claims that brown bagging can save money and improve health are more and more common these days, and many companies and schools are working on brown bag programs to assist their employees and students in both areas.
