Make the Packaging the Gift

12 Oct

This is interesting, “From Thanksgiving to New Years Day, household waste increases by more than 25%. Added food waste, shopping bags, packaging, wrapping paper, bows and ribbons – it all adds up to an additional 1 million tons a week to our landfills.

It is October now, and that means marketing folks are thinking about end of year client and employee gifts. (It is not that we don’t like Halloween and Thanksgiving, we do, but planning for events related to those holidays normally takes place in August/September).

So here is a very simple idea I really like from the Express Line for holiday giving this year. Make the packaging itself the gift.  Specifically printing the BPA-free drinkware from Express Line with one of their wonderful stock holiday themes from the Express Line Total Branding program, {video}.

Then filling that holiday themed drinkware with perhaps candies, or a giftcard, or coffees beans, or a donation information card to Heifer International (or another charity), and sending it off to your clients, or handing it out at holiday parties.

The two reasons I love this idea:

One, once the candy is gone, the drinkware remains. Your brand / message will therefor stay in front of your client much longer than a simple food gift.

Two, the drinkware is reusable, it is fun, it is festive, and unlike other “packaging” it is not headed for the landfill 10 minutes after it is open. Add one and two together and you get longer brand exposure with less waste.

I like Express Line for this idea because they have the most stock holiday designs and their design team makes the creative process simple. However the idea works of course with any drinkware item, so if you need recycled or Union Made or Made in USA ideas, talk to the folks at Garyline. If you need USA corn based biodegradable corn plastic drinkware, talk to Quickpoint.

If you are an ASI distributor Jarel Guerrero is the contact to talk to at The Express Line. If you are interested in using holiday drinkware for your own business or event, contact your local promotional items vendor or email info@proformagreen.com for information, pricing, and samples.
