CPSC, Manufacturer Expand Recall

REPOST from ASI Announcement 6/8/2012

A lunch tote recall announced in January has now been expanded by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and California Innovations, the importer of the bags. California Innovations, a Toronto-based company that is not an ASI-listed supplier in the ad specialty market, announced last night that about 880,000 hot/cold gel packs that came with its recalled lunch totes could be hazardous if the packs are damaged. If the packs are broken, the gel can leak and cause illness if ingested.

The lunch totes and food carrier products that were recalled in January were sold in retail stores including Costco and Walmart between July 2007 and December 2008. Now, California Innovations, in conjunction with the CPSC, is recalling the Cryofreeze ice/hot packs and Arctic Zone ice packs that came with the bags, in addition to ones that were sold separately from the originally recalled totes

The CPSC is warning consumers to immediately stop using the gel packs, and they can contact California Innovations to receive a $6 cash refund for large (8.5-inch x 8-inch) Cryofreeze gel packs or a $5 cash refund for all other gel packs.
