EarthDay Ideas: Conserve Energy Conservation Set

4 Mar

This is a guest post by John Simonetta, owner of Proforma Simonetta Freelance, an eco-friendly promotional items consultancy (see proformagreen.com). John’s blogs are designed to keep us up to date on the “greening” of his industry.

With Earth Day around the corner I wanted to write a few articles focusing on promotional items with a bent towards education. There are going to be a lot of Earth Day events in the next two months, and these event are often the best way for Ecopreneurists to get their message out to a mainstream audience and the mainstream media.

The Conserve Energy Conservation Set from Leeds is a great example of an education focused promotional item that also provides the Ecopreneurist big bang messaging platform.

The Conserve Energy Conservation Set includes EcoHome Magnetic Conserve Booklet (12-page booklet contains helpful how-to tips for living eco-friendly, made from aluminum (recyclable) with a magnetic backing for display in prominent areas), EcoHome Refrigerator Thermometer (2.75″H x .94″W LCD screen and displays the optimal temperature for a refrigerator to help conserve energy and save money), 2 energy-saving 110W compact fluorescent light bulbs, and a gift box that doubles as a battery disposal box.

Each item in the kit can be branded with an organization or business logo, contact info, etc. Each item can also be purchased separately, however with the price of the Conserve Energy Conservation Set at EQP $19.33 there seems no reason to split these items up.

The similar Conserve Home Set includes Shower-Minder Water Conservation Timer, EcoHome Magnetic Conserve Booklet, one energy saving 110W compact fluorescent light bulb, and as well as gift box that doubles as a battery disposal box. The Converve Home Set has an EQP of $16.00.

Either one of these items would work great as an eduction give-away for your upcoming Earth Day event. Indeed there is so much usefulness in these items, a good Ecopreneurist or educator might be able to develop a teaching curriculum around kits themselves.

For more information on these items take a look at the Leeds Website or email info@proformagreen.com.

The eco kits from Eco Hatchery enable you to track improvement of your carbon footprint as you use the products in the kit. You also can form communities and work with others toward a common environmental goal. Check them out!

    Andrea,

Can you supply link to information on Eco Hatchery? It sounds very interesting.

I had what I thought was a brilliant idea, so I was trying to find some sites to share and found this one.

Do any of you have a whole house fan? I do, I use it in the spring and fall instead of the air conditioner. Well, my idea was this: you could install several small fan blades above your electric whole house fan and attach those blades to a generator. That way you could recoup a little of your cost for running the electric attic fan. You would have your own little windmill inside your attic. What do you think?
